BFG Supply Co. is an industry leader in wholesale distribution to the greenhouse, nursery and lawn and garden industries. We are currently looking for a Logistics Coordinator to join our Logistics team reporting to the Director of Transportation.

The Logistics Coordinator processes transportation requests for inbound vendor, outbound customer, third-party shipments of non-inventoried items, and internal warehouse to warehouse product moves.

Applicants must reside in one of the following areas for considerations: Cleveland, OH.; Denver, CO.; Grand Rapids, MI.; Pittsburgh, PA. or San Bernardino, CA.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identifies freight costs utilizing transportation management system and knowledge of product, customer, or vendor constraints.

  2. Follows established procedures to determine best cost alternative, select appropriate freight provider and prepare quotation.

  3. Communicates quotation to Sales Representative.

  4. Books freight with carrier and records transaction and subsequent updates for tracking and follow through.

  5. Prepares customer freight invoicing.

  6. Reconciles weekly carrier bills for outbound, inbound and third-party shipments.

  7. Works cross-functionally with operations, customer service, and sales to ensure proper carrier selection, on-time delivery (track and trace), and to resolve any customer concerns for missing product or damages.

  8. Prepares reports for tendered freight, customer freight and contract carrier cost reduction.

  9. Other tasks as assigned.

  • Maintains a thorough record of all booked freight.
  • Supports other departments to ensure a good customer experience.

  • Ability to learn and apply diverse customer, vendor or third-party requirements.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of DOT (FMCSA) Regulations for motor carriers.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of hazardous materials transportation.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of third-party logistic networks and transportation carrier billing.

Required Skills and Experience

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma with 1-3 years of general business experience.
  • Excellent Excel and general computer skills.
  • Experience within a customer service environment.
  • Understanding of warehouse processes and coordination with operations departments.
